1. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to operate and improve the service.

We may collect:

  • identifiers, such as email address, account ID, IP address, and optional name;
  • account and subscription data, such as membership status, plan, billing status, cancellation status, and support history;
  • payment-related records processed by Stripe, such as transaction status and receipts. We do not store full card numbers;
  • usage data, such as pages viewed, clicks, device type, browser type, referral source, approximate IP-derived location, and interaction with emails;
  • support and feedback content you send us;
  • optional preference data you choose to provide, such as destinations, interests, or crew-relevant travel preferences;
  • affiliate click and conversion metadata when you click partner links.

We do not intentionally collect passport numbers, government IDs, visa documents, uniforms, biometric data, precise location, health records, children’s data, or employer-confidential information.

2. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage member accounts;
  • deliver paid and free content;
  • process subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and receipts;
  • send transactional emails and service notices;
  • send newsletters or marketing emails when you subscribe or consent;
  • respond to support, privacy, billing, and correction requests;
  • secure the service, prevent fraud, and detect abuse;
  • understand aggregate product usage and improve editorial coverage;
  • track affiliate commissions and partner performance;
  • comply with tax, accounting, legal, and security obligations.

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases:

  • contract performance for subscriptions, account access, billing, and transactional messages;
  • consent for optional marketing emails and optional cookies where required;
  • legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, aggregate analytics, service improvement, and affiliate attribution;
  • legal obligations for tax, accounting, compliance, and lawful requests.

We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Sharing Personal Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may share limited data with service providers that help us operate the service, including:

  • Ghost or other publishing and membership infrastructure;

  • law enforcement or government bodies when legally required;
  • a successor if the business is merged, sold, or reorganized, subject to continued protection under this policy.

Service providers may only process data for authorized purposes.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • essential account, authentication, security, and payment functions;
  • Ghost's first-party analytics and product improvement, where enabled;
  • affiliate attribution for partner commissions.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some essential cookies are required for member login, checkout, and account security.

Ghost's native web analytics are designed to be first-party and cookie-free. If we add third-party services that set non-essential cookies, such as advertising pixels, retargeting, or third-party analytics, we will add an appropriate cookie notice or consent tool and update this policy.

  • aggregate analytics: may be retained without personal identifiers.

When retention ends, we delete or anonymize the data unless law requires continued retention.

  • access personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete information, subject to legal retention limits;
  • export your information in a portable format;
